Ministry Operations Director at Hope Anglican Church

About Hope Anglican Church:

Hope Anglican Church is a rapidly-growing church launched in 2017 that seeks to see the hope of Jesus in every home in Sydney’s new south-west. Our developing area and our new Ministry Centre require a growing staff team to see the people of the new south-west grow in Christlikeness.

About the Role:

We are looking for a full-time Ministry Operations Director to lead and help oversee our day-to-day ministry operations and strategy. Currently we have approximately 700 adults and kids who call Hope Church Leppington their church.

Our church has experienced rapid growth over the last few years, and with additional Sunday services, expanding ministries, and the new Leppington Anglican College across the carpark, this role is vitally important to the mission and overall health of our church.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the ministry trellis of Hope Anglican Church, Leppington. Theologically-formed and effectively-built ministry structures are essential if our church is going to see the hope of Jesus in every home in the new south-west.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Senior Minister to build and maintain theologically-formed and effective church ministry structures.
  • Assisting the pastoral and operational staff to set, achieve, and provide accountability for their ministry outcomes.
  • Supporting the Senior Minister in short-term and long-term strategic planning.
  • Setting and creating agendas for weekly staff meetings and monthly Parish Council meetings, including the minuting of meetings and providing accountability for agreed-upon action points.
  • Assisting and implementing the directions of the Wardens and Parish Council in the development of governance and management structures (in accordance with the policies of the Sydney Anglican Diocese), including any Human Resource related matters (such as assisting with employment contracts and orientating new staff).
  • Leading, training and working alongside teams of volunteers to run and organise the logistics of church events and ministries.
  • Being responsible for church communications, including both our internal and external communications (for example, our church website and social media platforms).
  • Overseeing our facilities maintenance team and any future building improvement projects.
  • Creating and managing the hire/leasing/rental of our facilities.
  • Overseeing our church’s responsibilities to the Sydney Anglican Diocese.
  • General day-to-day tasks that may arise at the request of the Senior Minister.
  • As a part of the role, it is highly desirable that this person be involved as a ministry leader in some of the ministries of our church (for example, being a Hope group Bible study leader).
  • Reporting directly to the Senior Minister.

The successful applicant will be someone who is...

  • A committed disciple of Jesus who is mature and godly.
  • A person of Christian character who holds to Reformed Evangelical and complementarian convictions.
  • Experienced in strategic thinking, planning, and implementation.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Able to contribute to a healthy team culture and be a team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Experienced in the ministry of the local church in either a vocational or lay capacity.
  • Theologically trained in some capacity (that is, at certificate or degree level).
  • A male or female.
  • A member of Hope Anglican Church (or will become a member of Hope Anglican Church as a part of this role) and a member of a Hope Group (our mid-week Bible study groups).

Highly desirable:

  • Experience within Sydney Anglican churches (for example, has been a member of Parish Council).
  • Ordained in Sydney Anglican Diocese with a Moore Theological degree.
  • A leader of leaders in either a secular or vocational church capacity.

This position is full time and offered with remuneration and benefits as articulated in the Sydney Anglican Diocese Remuneration Guidelines.
